Nicole Marchesi was a biology undergraduate amid the mass of students at the University of California at Davis. At the time, all she knew about Napa was that it was a rival town in the context of high school sports. It was only when she was assigned to write an article for the school paper, The Aggie, that she really first considered a career in wine. Clearly, Bacchus was watching over her shoulder. This one simple assignment ultimately led her to Far Niente, a wine lover’s—and a winemaker’s—paradise.
